Events Guide: What To Attend This October Weekend

Is it too late to wish you a happy new Month? The first weekend of October is here and in our tradition, we have lined up an array of event options to consider:

EU KenyaMusicXchange Showcase

The European Union-funded Cultural Relations Platform is hosting a live music concert on Friday 6th at the Goethe Institut. This concert is a culmination of the capacity-building project that mentored 13 emerging Kenyan acts. The lineup includes Liboi, Groovy Jo, Brian Sigu, and Serro to mention a few. Entry is absolutely free. Gates open at 7 pm.


The 48-Hour Film Project Nairobi screenings continue from Friday 6th to Saturday 7th of October. Following the 7th year of the annual filmmaking competition, 14 crews of Nairobi filmmakers did the unimaginable—writing, Shooting, Editing, and completing a 4-7 minute film in JUST 48 hours. The screenings are taking place from 7 pm and 9 pm at Century Cinemax, The Junction, Ngong Road. Tickets are retailing at KES 500.

Funky Flava

Maandy Kabaya is bringing the house down at the K1 Klubhouse on Friday 6th October. The “Sirudi Home” hitmaker will be performing alongside a star-studded lineup that includes Boutross, Fena Gitu, Breeder LW, Exray, Uncojingjong, Trio Mio, Gchess, and Denzel Kong. Because You Said So Boo

Improv comedy show Because You Said So returns this Saturday at the Visa Oshwal Community Centre, Parklands. Save a date for endless laughter and entertainment as the BYSS crew takes center stage from 8 pm till late. Gates open at 6 pm and tickets are available on Ticketsasa.

Oktoba Fest

The Oktoba Fest caravan heads to Naivasha this weekend. On the 6th and 7th of October 2023, Party Island Lounge will transform into a vibrant hub of entertainment and cultural festivities. Wakadinali, Vijana Barubaru, Veryl Mkali Wao, and Mejja are some acts set to grace this stage. To join the festivities, one must purchase four Kenya Breweries Limited family beers at the gate for only KES 1000.

Pikika Brunch

Premier foodie event Pikika Brunchy will be hosting its Octoberfest Edition at the Clarret BBQ & Picnic Garden, New Muthaiga Mall on Saturday 7th October from noon till late. Come through for tantalizing treats of the best meals from top chefs featuring Big Smoke BBQ, HD’s Kitchen, Beauty And The Feast, Deeper Than My Kitchen, Clarett Kitchen, and The Mbuzi Guy among others.
