Comedian Eric Omondi is the most followed celebrity in Kenya.
Counting out Lupita Nyong’o who has a six-million fan base, Omondi is the local king of Instagram with a 1.4 million following. On social media, an excited Omondi made the announcement, bragging of his huge numbers.
“Women will lie, Men will lie, but Numbers will NEVER lie… Officially the most followed Person in Kenya and Uganda (Zari ni Wa Tanzania . Kila mtu angenitumia Shillingi moja moja hapa ningekua na Millioni moja nukta nne. Sasa naeza kuwafunza jinsi mtakavyo wafikisha wapenzi wenu kileleni mkitumia kucha,” he posted.
Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan, the ex-wife to Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz, has a whopping 4.5 million fans, a reason why Omondi did want to go against her.
Back home, TV hosts, singers and comedians dominate the list, but its only socialite who can really give the comedian some real competition.
Huddah Monroe closely follow him with 1.3 million followers, Sauti Sol with 1.1 million while Vera Sidika has 992,000.
Bahati has 931,000 followers, Size 8 921,000, Betty Kyallo 884,000 and Jalang’o 824, 000. Omondi so far has at least 6,534 posts which are mostly, if not all, meant to tickle your ribs.
