Internet sensation and comedian, Elsa Majimbo was awarded the E! People’s Choice Award in the African Social Star category.
The award comes after the 18-year-old comedian took social media by storm with her hilarious videos narrating her COVID-19 lockdown dilemmas.
Majimbo, armed with her phone, a bag of chips and her signature sunglasses has since managed to score a number of impressive interviews such as CNN’s Anderson Cooper, has been featured in both the New York Times and UK Vogue and has even gone on to collaborate with Rihanna’s FENTY line.
Majimbo announced that she had won the award via her social media, where she thanked her fans and expressed her gratitude for having received the award. She beat out reigning Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi, South African actress Thuso Mbedu, South African rapper Sho Madjozi plus several others who were also nominated for the award.
