For over two years, Virgil valiantly battled a rare, aggressive type of cancer cardiac angiosarcoma.
He chose to endure his battle privately since diagnosis in 2019, undergoing numerous challenging treatments, all while helming several significant institutions that span fashion, art and culture.” Read the post.

Comedian Elsa Majimbo mourned the passing of the Fashion Guru on Twitter;
“RIP Virgil. You treated me like a baby sister and were one of the first person I could speak about my career with.
You are loved and will be missed.

Local and International Artists Mourn The Passing Of A Fashion Icon
Local Artists, including Sauti Sol and Victoria Kimani have mourned Virgil.
Fashion Icons and International Artists have mourned the renowned fashion designers as well.
In a statement Bernard Arnault CEO LMVH, Louis Vuitton said; “We are all shocked by this terrible news. Virgil was not only a genius designer and a visionary, he was also a man with a beutiful soul and great wisdom.”
“The LVMH family joins me in this moment of great sorrow ame we are all thinking of his loved ones on the passing of their husband, father, brother, sone and friend.” He added.
Other artists including Beyoncè, Pharrel Williams, Idris Elba and Hailey Bieber have shared the condolences.
