Comedian Elsa Majimbo has given insights into her success.
Speaking at the ‘She believes Summit’ organized by U.S Soccer, Majimbo said she has never had to compromise who she was.
“The best part of my success so far has been the fact that I never had to compromise who I was.
I always stayed unapologetically myself.”
The comedian who has partnered with global brands including Coach, Valentino, Tiffany & Co and other companies said she leads her life like a white man.
“I tried to live my life like a white man. I walk around with no fear, and the assumption that anything is possible.” She said.
Majimbo says she’s learned it’s not her job to make people feel comfortable.
“One of the key lessons that I’ve learned in the last 18 months has been this: It is not my job to make people feel comfortable. It is however my job to tread a path that make it easier on the next Elsa. The next underdog with ‘Unrealistic dreams’.”
“I dropped out of Collage when I got my got my first 100,000 likes on a video, I knew I would succeed.” Elsa Majimbo
The author continued;
“People think that I dropped out of college when I hit my first 100,000 followers.
I actually dropped out when I got my first 100,000 likes on a video, because I’m so confident in myself, and I knew I would succeed.”
Majimbo narrated how a lecturer tried to convince her to stay in school.
“I remember one of my teachers, emailed me; ‘hey Elsa, I know that you are really popular right now, but these things don’t last, I think that you should stay in school and focus on your studies.’
And to that I gave a very simple reply, thank you for your concern but I am a star.”
