Eliud Kipchoge Up For Male World Athlete Of The Year

Olympian Eliud Kipchoge has had a great year.

In 2021 Kipchoge defended the Olympic Marathon title, signed huge brand partnerships deals and was named Ambassador of Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

There is no doubt his name would come up as Male Athlete of The Year, in the World Athletics Awards.

The Marathon World Record holder is among Nine other nominees selected by an international panel of athletics experts, comprising representatives from all six continental areas of World.

The announcement marks the opening of the voting process for the 2021 World Athletes of the Year.

The award ceremony is set to be held in December.

How to Vote For The World Athletics Awards

There is a three-way voting process to determine the finalists and winners of the awards.

The World Athletics Council and the World Athletics Family will cast their votes by email.

Fans can vote online via the World Athletics social media platforms.

Each nominee has been posted on World Athletics’ Facebook, Twitter and Instagram; a ‘like’ on Facebook and Instagram or a retweet on Twitter will count as one.


The World Athletics Council’s vote will count for 50% of the result, while the World Athletics Family’s votes and the public votes will each count for 25% of the final result.

Voting closes at midnight on Saturday, Nov. 6 November.
