In an astonishing and captivating show of grit, passion and perseverance, the greatest marathoner of our times Eliud Kipchoge once again proved nothing is impossible.
The world record holder of the 42km marathon this morning wrote another chapter in history by running the course in 1 hour 59 minutes and 40 seconds.
The challenge dubbed #INEOS159 took place in Vienna Austria, Saturday morning where millions of fans watched in bated breath for Eliud to do the impossible. The Olympian flanked by 41 pacesetters did the job in 1:59:40 proving that “No Human Is Limited”.
The chemical company INEOS that funded the fete executed everything with military precision. From the laser guide car to the pacemakers changeover, everything went according to plan.
Speaking after the race, Kipchoge who still had tonnes of energy had this to say: “I am the happiest man to run under two hours to inspire people, to tell people that no human being is limited,” said Kipchoge. “You can do it.
“I expect more athletes in the world to run under two hours after today. Remember the 35 pacemakers are among the best athletes in the world. They are the best, I want to thank them, to appreciate them for accepting to do their job. We made history together.”
Kenya is in jubilation this weekend and we celebrate the hero Eliud Kipchoge.
