If you’re still doubting the new wave of 254 music, wake up to the reality that Trap is here to stay. We have seen top artists like Octopizzo, Khaligraph, Barack Jacuzzi, and the new kings like ADF Family, Shukid, and Tunji go hard on Trap beats and deliver hits.
Dr. Reign is a Hip Hop artist, certified Doctor and TV host who has been on the scene since 2012 but has been juggling his medical career and music since then. He is now ready to spread his tentacles across the 254 and beyond.
Reign has just presented the first single off his upcoming solo project. The song is called ‘Nu Baba’ – a self-declared proclamation that his presence will be felt in the Kenyan Hip Hop industry. Reign teams up with Kayvo Kayforce with whom he has collaborated with several times before and the relative newbie to the scene Steph Kapela who is a breath of fresh air. The jam has an incredible sound, beautifully arranged and the three sound so smooth on it, you’d confuse it with a US record.
Nu Baba is produced by upcoming Hip Hop producer Eujo Cipher while the video was directed by Johnson Kyalo of Top Notch Films.
My take away from this new single is that Trap seems like shaping up our music whereby some dope collaborations are coming to light, the music is permeating the media and entertainment worlds, but most importantly the fans are vibing with it.
