Davido to Headline Afrobeatz Festival in Nairobi

Nigerian singer, record producer and Africa’s number one selling artist Davido is set to headline the Afrobeatz Festival in Nairobi on March 28. With a promise to perform award-winning songs like “Skelewu,” “Aye” and “Owo Ni Koko,” you can expect the 22-year-old Afrobeat artist to put on quite a show.

The festival is hosted by SkyHitz Global, Ranee Production and Raverend Entertainment and will begin at 6 p.m. at the Carnivore Grounds restaurant in Nairobi. Other performing artists include Fena, Muthoni DQ, DJ Crème de la Crème and DJ Protege.

According to Kenyan online publication Ghafla, Afrobeat is now “one of the most recognizable music genres in the world,” gaining traction internationally with its exuberant polyrhythmic style.

Davido, who resides in Atlanta, is one of the genre’s most prominent names. Having won several prizes for his original compositions as well as for his production of other artists, Davido is now working on his second album, which will feature already released single “Gobe.”

“I’m living my dream,” said Davido, whose real name is David Adedeju Adeleke, to entertainment website Bella Naija. “It’s crazy but I try to keep my head grounded.”
