Kenyan star Shavey of the renowned group Shavey and Slice has passed on. The reports of his demise surface this morning and Kenyans on Twitter were irked that the media was ignoring that piece of news.
Shavey met his death on Monday evening after he tripped and was ran over by a matatu plying the Kayole route. The dancehall star of the early 2000’s ended up as a Matatu tout in Kayole to get his living going, his career in music was faced out.
Messages of condolences poured on Twitter as Kenyans realized what kind of life the legendary dancehall star was living. He turned to touting after he was arrested for trying to steal meat from a butchery.
Shavy’s dancehall tune ‘Gyal’ was among the first tracks from Kenya to feature on ragga charts across Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean. Sadly the follow-up tunes from the crew did not receive a fraction of success Gyal had.
