Tourism CS Najib Balala has finally met with Eric Omondi following the comedian’s several appeals to be part of the Magical Kenyan team.
Balala invited Omondi to his office yesterday after the two publicly clashed last week regarding the Magical Kenya ambassador position which was handed to British model Naomi Campbell.
The two haven’t yet shared the basis of the meeting but it’s believed they discussed how Omondi might also join the team as he requested.
On social media, Omondi alerted his fans about the meeting but avoided sharing any further information.
“Magical Kenya,” Omondi simply wrote.
The meeting comes after the CS accused Omondi of lying after he reached his office via email.
Balala said that Omondi reached out to his office regarding replacing Naomi Campell as Magical Kenya International Tourism Ambassador but was vague on his email.
According to Balala, he just requested a meeting with him and nothing else.
“Yes I have seen an email he sent to my office requesting for a meeting but he did not specify what the meeting was about,” he said. “I receive hundreds of emails from people requesting to be Tourism Ambassadors.”
Omondi’s plea was sparked by Kenyans’ bitter reaction following the appointment of the British model. According to many, a Kenyan, preferably Hollywood actress Lupita Ny’ong’o or any top entertainer should have been given the marketing job.
“Give me and Lupita this MAGICAL KENYA JOB,” Omondi said.
“We are both Extremely qualified for the Job. In 2019 alone just before the Corona Pandemic I managed to travel to 11 Countries in which I mostly performed in full Kenyan flag attire, Including the Biggest Comedy show in America, ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.”
