Crispy Fresh: A Look At What’s Hot In Music This Week!

25 January of 2019 by

As we approach the end of the dreaded January, the grind and hustle in our arts industry keeps going. Here’s what hot in the Kenyan music scene this week.

Khaligraph Jones Feat YCEE – Gwala

This is the second video off his debut album ‘Testimony 1990’ that dropped last year July. Khaligraph flew to Lagos Nigeria to link up with his compadre YCEE for this video, and I’d term it alright. They showcase the money, women and cars but I feel Khali should have sought more of Nigerian life and culture cameos. The two did come through with top bars on the verses. Take a listen.

Timmy TDat Feat Redsan – Atekwe

A rare collabo this is but we are here for it. Timmy left his Radio career to resume to what he knows best. This is the first feature from Redsan since his alleged case of beating up his producer. ‘Atekwe’ is sheng for ‘Get hold off’ has a dance-hall ring to it and loads of vixen tells you the clubs are ready for this. Timmy sticks to a working formula which i singing for the ladies and getting that Kapuka/Dancehall sound.

Willy Paul – Harambee

Willy Paul aka Pozee has dropped his first video of 2019 and he still leaves us second guessing if he’s a Gospel artist. ‘Harambee’ dwells on Willy Paul getting the girl of his dreams to his folks and having a wedding. He has truly cut his niche for the ‘love songs’ in the Gospel industry as he is the sole act doing so.

Otile Brown – Kenyan Girl

Smooth crooner Otile Brown is ready for a 2019 takeover and he has his first video out. Tapping into the Play Kenyan Music debate, he mentions Kenyan ladies celebrities to bring his rhymes home just like Naiboi did with his 2 in 1 video. The jam is trending on Youtube and he is a hell of a drug to women. So all power to Otile.
