She’s one of the country’s foremost names in fashion, as well as being one of its most gifted.
Connie Aluoch has been working hard, since her days as a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York – to craft for herself a brand that expresses her roots as well as her look at the future of fashion for young women on the continent who view her as a trailblazer in her field.
She was recently at the FIT – travelling back home, so to speak, to talk about her experience so far, and how much she has been able to build, from her time as an international student.
She earned her chops in the Fine Arts department of the institution. During this time, she worked with a backstage management firm, which she says she used as the inspiration for her own work in Kenya.
Connie earned her next degree – her Masters in Fashion Styling – at the Istituto Marangoni in Milan.
And that’s just the beginning – she aims to continue expanding her brand both within the continent as well as outside it. Fashion can be a mountain to overcome – especially with the industry’s difficult terrain. However, Connie continues to improve on herself and her craft and that exposure continues to allow her status as a leading light.
