Kalasha Awards 2022 nominees have finally been unveiled. The list is decorated by both established and upcoming film industry professionals. According to the organizers, the Kenya Film Commission (KFC), there are 36 award categories up for contest this year – 20 Film, 9 TV, and 7 Special.
For this edition, KFC received 217 submissions which is an increase from last year’s 149 submissions. Some of the categories up for contest include Best Feature Film, Best Lead Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Regional Film, Best Documentary, Best Performance in a TV Comedy, and Best Student Film.
The Kalasha Awards 2022 nomination list has the best film and TV releases from July 2021 onwards. Feature films Ayaanle, and Click Click Bang, Showmax Series Baba Twins, and Netflix Drama Series Country Queen have dominated the nominees’ list with 15, 12, 8, and 6 nominations respectively. Eugene Mbugua’s productions Kyallo Kulture, This Love, Foods Of Kenya, Roast House, Stori Yangu, and International Women’s Day Documentary each have a nomination.
