Jamaican reggae and dancehall star Chris Martin is more than thankful Kenyans were not discouraged by the ugly weather, and made it to his show at Impala Grounds, Ngong Road for the Big Deal Concert on December 7.
The concert was marred by a few challenges that scared the organizers. From the rains to last-minute change of venue, many were not sure the event will be a success but it turns out nothing would stop Kenyans from going.
“Nairobi! I am humbled! The love you showed me tonight, I’m that rain…if I spent all the money/valuables I possess I could not pay u for the love u gave me tonight!!! Thank you!!!! I love you all very much!” He wrote on Twitter.
The show was fully packed despite also a Jameson Show which was just a few kilometers away, at Uhuru Gardens that was headlined by American rapper TI.
Martin also thanked designer David Avido who dressed him for the show before promising this is not the last time he’ll be performing in Kenya.
“Thank you Nairobi…tonight was pure love! I’m Humbled. David Avido thank u for sharing ur talent with me for my outfit!!! he said.”
“You are truly talented and the +254 is very proud of u!!! Thanks to all my supporters and reggae and dancehall lovers who took on the rain and mud, stayed with me and showed me and my friends so much love!!! Can’t wait to come back.”
While some shared how they had fun, others complained that the event was marred by robberies.
