Sauti Sol member Chimano has dropped his EP Heavy Is The Crown. The EP has been released alongside Hallelujah – the project’s lead single and music video. Written by Bien, Hallelujah is a pop single with a profound self-love message. In the music video, Chimano flaunts his style icon status by donning a bedazzled blazer while effortlessly swaying to the lyrics of the catchy song.
Heavy is the Crown is part of Sauti Sol’s flagship project, Alone Together. It has 7 tracks i.e. Friday Feeling, Freedom, Loser, Hallelujah, Beautiful Day, Stereo, and Mad Love. Its production is a showcase of melodious tunes, divine harmonies, and powerful messages.
The EP is heavily inspired by the classic, funk, soul, and rich sounds of the 80s and 90s. In it are strong messages of self-love, identity, and self-acceptance. Through Heavy Is The Crown, Chimano challenges toxic masculinity, prejudices, and hypocrisy in our society.

Chimano On Heavy Is The Crown
Speaking on the new EP, Chimano says “It feels good to be authentic, at peace and centered. It’s a good place for me to be in and to stick to my values. This EP is who I am. I am coming out of my shell. It takes time for who you are to shine bright from your soul, from within, to the outside – a lot of people will relate to this.”
The Sauti Sol member further added that he had started writing some songs off the EP up to 3 years ago. However, he didn’t know where these songs would fit until Sauti Sol’s Alone Together project came along. Heavy is The Crown has provided a solid home for the Friday Feeling singer’s personal sound and lyrics.
Chimano sums up by saying, “It’s hard to ignore the burdens society puts on you but by believing and focusing on yourself while being kind to others, you have crowned yourself and don’t need anyone to validate that. I have fully started to express myself and deep down for me this is an expression of happiness and freedom.”
