Cake Festival 2022 – How It Went Down

Cake Festival 2022 finally took place at the Carnivore Grounds last Saturday. This unique annual fundraiser is the brainchild of Edumed Trust – to keep bright needy students in school. So far it has supported over 440 students and currently supports 80 students in over 70 Kenyan secondary schools nationwide.

As of the starting time, cake enthusiasts jammed the famous venue in their thousands to taste the cake varieties. According to the organizers, the turnout at this reunion edition was more than anticipated and quite a pleasant surprise. This is because several people bought the gate tickets in addition to the advance tickets available on Ticketsasa.

Multiple bakers drawn from both home-based and large baking enterprises served delicious cake and dessert samples. Attendees were allowed to eat the cakes to their fill and interact with the bakers in person. Apart from the cake sampling, there were also showcases from other businesses. Some of which include baking equipment, ingredients & condiments, clothing & accessories, and media to mention a few.

Cake Festival 2022 also had quite an engaging program. As promised, the organizers had slotted in lots of fun activities for both kids and adults. These include music and dance competitions, bouncing castles, races, and several other interactive games.

The event would be incomplete without its main highlights – the baking competitions and the live demos. Through these participants got to flaunt their baking and decorating skills and get feedback from a respected judges’ panel who include Netflix Web Series ‘Sugar Rush’ Judge, Adrian Zumbo, and distinguished Baker, Aaisha Sumbul.
