It’s a big moment whenever Sauti Sol rease anything. One of the biggest musical groups this continent has ever produced deserves all the buzz, not only because they have completely owned their particular sound, but also because they work to push the boundaries.
Sauti Songs are nothing if not memorable. As is their brand new collaboration (the first in a series of collaborations that form the standard for their upcoming musical project Afrikan Sauce)
The tune is slow, thumping and sexy. And the video embodies that, with an homage to the beauty of deep rich skin tones. It has the soul of Afro, the vitality of the Caribbean and a little of a nod to RnB.
The video was shot in Lagos and directed by Clarence Peters.
And you should expect big things from the AFRIKAN SAUCE album – the group will be releasing a song every month, and all songs will be collaborations with major artists from across the continent. Sauti Sol are showing and proving that in today’s day and age, it’s even more important to keep your art as fresh as possible. This will be their fifth major album project.
