Activist and photojournalist Boniface Mwangi’s documentary film dubbed ‘Softie’ has been nominated for The Emmys under the category ‘Outstanding Politics and Government Documentary.
The American public broadcasting service (PBS) took to their social media accounts to announce the big news. POV is the longest-running showcase on television for independent documentary films.
This comes just a few days after bagging the Best Documentary award at the recently concluded Zanzibar Film Festival.
The documentary follows Boniface Mwangi and his family during his campaign trail and his eventual loss. It covers deep themes such as love for country, love for family, fear, corruption and bravery.
The LA Times called Boniface fearless after while reviewing the documentary.
