Straight from Sauti za Busara festival in Zanzibar, Ghanaian MC Blitz The Ambassador made a stop over in Nairobi on his way to Accra for an intimate listening party and gave us a short preview of his yet to be released album ‘Diasporadical’.
With Blinky Bill on the decks, Muthoni DQ warmed up the floor with songs from her album set for release this Saturday an a concert at the Homeboyz Radio rooftop which will be broadcast online and on the radio airwaves. Muthonis’ album has some cool features with Khuli Chana and Wyclef Jean.
Blitz describes the tone of ‘Diasporadical’ as a spiritual journey. As an MC from Ghana and based in the US, Blitz speaks of the immigrant experience in many of his records knowing the importance of sharing the African narrative. Blitz says he recognizes the divide that exists between Africans and Africans in diaspora.
The gap between the diaspora is real, I realize that the role that I need to play is expand the culture and trying to bridge that gap.
Blitz then jumped on the mic and performed some favorites from his past albums ‘Afropolitan‘ and ‘The Warm Up EP‘ ‘Make You No Forget’ featuring Seun Kuti ,’Love On the Run‘ featuring Nneka ‘Dikembe’ and the DJ for the night Blinky Bill joined Blitz on the mic for ‘Africa is The Future’.
Blitz told KenyanVibe The album will have collaborations with Tumi and the Volume and Akua Naru and is set to be released in May this year on Jakarta Records.
