Artist Spotlight: Cathy Matete About To Take 254 Reggae Scene By Storm

The Reggae scene in the 254 has been quite underwhelming in the last few years. We don’t have jump-out names splashed on headlines or shows to rep the 254.

This is about to change when Kenyans know about this singer, songwriter and performing act called Cathy Matete. Blessed with an angelic voice that lays perfectly on Reggae beats and strings, she is about to bring a ruckus in the industry.

Cathy kickstarted her career in 2013 with a song titled ‘All For You’ produced by Reggae maestro ZJ Heno on the Passionate Riddim Project. She, later on, joined the Tunedem Reggae Band in 2014 where she perfected her vocals and stage performance from the countrywide tours the band did.

In 2018, Cathy voiced ‘Take My Hand’ still under ZJ Heno after she decided on taking a solo route and ditching Tunedem band. 2019 saw her release an iconic jam called ‘No Retreat’ that garnered massive airplay home and abroad.

2020 promises to be a leap year for Cathy as she’s hinted a collabo with Jamaican Reggae Powerhouse Anthony B. More collaborations are lined up for 2020 but first her brand new single ‘Get Lifted’ is out now Shamir’s latest project, ‘Connection Riddim’.

When the huge Reggae concerts hit the 254, we expect Cathy’s name to be on the line up as her talent speaks volumes and it just needs an outlet.
