Angela Okutoyi Kicks Off US Open Campaign

Two Times African Champion and the first ever Kenyan to win a Grand Slam Angela Okutoyi has begun her US Open Campaign.

This marks Okutoyi’s fourth campaign at a Grand Slam after she made history in July becoming the first Kenyan player to win Wimbledon tennis trophy after teaming up with Marie Rose Nijkamp in London, UK.

The Junior Tennis is looking to have a successful run as she plays her first match Today, Friday.

US Open 2022

US Open 2022 is not only historic for the Kenyan young Player, this edition marks the last major tournament Serena Williams is likely to play.

This comes after she announced she is moving on from playing Tennis.

In an interview on Vogue, the Player and Fashion Mogul said, “I’m here to tell you that I’m evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me.

Angela Okutoyi Hopes to Meet her Idol Serena Williams

Commenting on the US Open, Okutoyi noted she looks forward to meeting Serena Williams.

She added; “This will really boost me. Hearing from a legend or even having a picture is a moment everyone wants and that will be in your books forever that met your role model. Even when you grow up and achieve greater things you will be like yeah I met her and did better things than her.”

Speaking on her performance at the US Open, the player said she hopes to build off the momentum of her three previous Grand Slam performances.
