Mission To Rescue            

Mission to rescue is Kenya’s first-ever military action movie, this Foxton Media production is based on a true story. The plot revolves around the struggles that the Kenya Special Operations Forces, went through when attempting to rescue hostages who had been abducted by the Al-Shabaab terrorist group.

Its star-studded cast features; Melvin Alusa, Warsame Abdi, Abdi Yusuf, Emmanuel Mugo, Andreo Kamau, Abubakar Mwenda, Sam Psenjen, Anthony Ndung’u, Bilal Mwaura, Justin Mirichi, Abajah Brian, Melissa Kiplagat, Brian Ogola, and Mwamburi Maole. Produced in 2021, it was selected as the 2021 Kenyan entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards. It is available on Safaricom’s video streaming platform Baze.

40 Sticks

Thriller lovers will definitely love this movie. Directed by seasoned film director Victor Gatonye, 40 Sticks is about a group of prisoners who were trapped in a crashed prison bus. The film narrates how the prisoners struggled to stay alive when they realized there was a strange killer lurking in the shadows.

Its cast is packed with film heavyweights such as Robert Agengo, Bilal Mwaura, Shivisi Shivske, Andreo Kamau, Cajetan Boy, Xavier Ywaya, Mumbi Maina, Gerald Langiri, and Bruce Makau. Produced by Fakii Liwali, Betty Mutua, and Sarah Hassan, this film boasts of several awards such s Africa Academy and Kalasha Awards. It is available on Netflix.

The More Things Change

The More Things Change is described as a slow-burn, cerebral, dramatic thriller. The storyline is about an independent newspaper journalist Neema who struggles to break an important story during a nationwide ban on political reporting. This film was made in partnership with Forum Civ, as part of the Wajibu Wetu program.

Respected actors such as Nyawara Ndambia, Melvin Alusa, Bryan Ngatia, Emmanuel Mugo, Stycie Waweru, and several others are part of its cast. The film is available on YouTube.

Uradi

Uradi is a tale of young love concurring terror, crime, illegal dealings, and radicalization in Nairobi’s fast life. Yet another amazing action movie, this film stars seasoned actors such as Mwaura Bilal, Shiks Kapienga, Mannaseh Nyagah, Innocent Njuguna, Keith Chuaga, and Peter Kawa. It is available on Netflix.

A Grand Little Lie (GLL)

A Grand Little Lie is a comedy-drama movie produced by Phil It Productions. Its story is about a guy called Joe whose people-pleasing tendencies land him in hot soup. Its unexpected twists and turn coupled with its rib-cracking script make it perfect for a weekend binge-watch.
