AMAAs Invites Local Filmmakers To Submit Entries For The 17th Edition

Filmmakers can now submit their work for the 17th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAAs).

The Africa Film Academy has announced that it’s accepting entries until July 30. The academy is expected to announce the nominees on September 30, while the event will be held in November.

With over 30 film categories in the awards, the academy is inviting filmmakers to submit all kind of films starting from Feature, documentaries, animation and short.

In 2020, the 16th edition of the AMAAs was held virtually due to the ravaging pandemic (COVID-19) and was joined by filmmakers from different parts of the world.

During the event, Nigeria’s “The Milkmaid” which was directed by Desmond Ovbiagele carted away four awards, winning NFVCB Award for Nigerian Best Film in the process. Haitian-American Actor, Jimmy Jean-Louis won the “Best Actor in a Leading Role” for the role he played in the Denis Cougnaud-produced movie, Desrances.
