All Is Set For The Premier Of Kenyan Film, ‘Sungura’

Kenyan movie Sungura is set to premiere on 10 September 2021 at the Prestige Plaza along Ngong Road. The film is about the story of a young woman called Kemunto who is living with a disability and is exploring her sexuality. Sungura aims to preach the gospel of inclusivity by demystifying the sexual misconceptions that people have about those living with physical or intellectual disabilities.

Produced, written, and directed by award-winning journalist and filmmaker Lydia Matata, this film boasts of a star-studded cast that includes: Florence Wambui, Auudi Rowa, Kauthar Kang’ethe, and Mwajuma Belle among others. Sungura is by extension a part of Lydia’s work as a journalist where she covered in-depth feature stories about various minority groups in Kenya such as women and persons with physical and psychosocial disabilities just to mention a few.

Currently, the film has already received a couple of accolades such as award winner at the African Film Festival 2020. Last month, Sungura film was selected for the coveted Malatesta Short Film Festival in Italy. The official trailer is out check it by clicking out here.
