Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua had a short stint in film but sure made a lot of money.
While addressing allegations that he has been misusing county funds, Mutua revealed that he made a staggering amount with his TV show Cobra Squad that launched his vast investment portfolio. Ksh 36 Million to be exact.
“I started my own company at the age of 19 years; where I formed a company then left the country,” said Mutua.
“When I came back I started ‘Cobra Squad’ where the first series earned me Sh25 million and the next film earned me Sh11 million.”
He was speaking to businessmen at Kenyatta stadium where he also revealed that he invested the money by buying apartments in Nairobi and also owns an aviation company.
Originally produced as a television program in 2008 with 13 episodes of the first season, Cobra Squad was widely known by Kenyans for its action.
The film based was a special police force that fought crime in the City of Nairobi. It ran for two seasons only with Alfred Mutua as both the Director, Screenwriter and Producer.
The cast included Mary Kathomi, Peter Mudamba Mudamba, Titus Otolo, Charles Kembero, Yvonne Shilenje, Johny Kuria, Mbuthia Ngware, Stephen Owino, Paul Ramtu, Sam Kihiu.
