Alexandra Ndolo Becomes The First Kenyan Woman to Compete at Fencingl Worldcup

Fencer Alexandra Malika Ndolo recently made history after competing at Fencing world cup.

The 35-year-old who was previously competing for German Fencing shared the historical moment on her Instagram, writing:

“Made history yesterday as the first Kenyan woman to ever compete at Fencing Worldcup.”

Ndolo who has Kenyan and Polish roots said the moment was emotional;

“Not going to lie seeing the flag raised high in the hall was definitely an emotional moment.”

She came 10th out of the 271 women completing, but assured there’s more to come…

“Great start into this new season.” She commented.

Winning points are made through the weapon’s contact with an opponent.

Fencing was one of the first sports to be played in the Olympics.

Alexandra Ndolo Move From German Fencing to Kenyan Fencing

Alexandra Ndolo a World Championship Silver medallist officially defected from German Fencing to Kenyan Fencing in September 2022.

Sharing the news on Instagram, the European championship Silver and Bronze medallist shared on Instagram …

“It’s official:

From this season on I will be fencing for my late father’s home country Kenya.”

Ndolo added;

“To everyone who had been a part of my journey in the past 15 years as a Fencer for German Fencing Federation, as an Athlete for DOSB, as a member of German Army’s sports division, as an athlete being supported by Deutsche Sporthilfe, thank you.”

Speaking to her new Kenyan team, Ndolo wrote;

“To my sports family from team Kenya and the Kenya fencing federation – I can’t wait to go on this journey with all of you together! I can’t wait to meet even more of you and fight for glory alongside of you.
