Shamsi Music and Fadhilee join the likes of Eric Wainaina, Atemi, H_Art the Band and dozens of other Kenyan acts to perform at the 16th edition of the Sauti Za Busara festival happening in Stone Town, Zanzibar from 7th – 10th February 2019.
Sauti is one of the continents oldest festivals. Among its missions is to bring people who celebrate and appreciate the continent’s diverse music genres and sounds. There shall be over 400 musians performing at 44 different shows in the four days!
Best African Jazz AFRIMA 2018 nominee Fadhilee is a Kenyan “world music” artist with a firm presence in the East African art scene. Joining Fadhilee will be Shamsi Music who scooped the Best Jazz Act by Café Ngoma Awards twice now.
Fadhilee released an album last year titled ‘Kwetu’ (Home) – with great singles such as We Don’t Know, Kwetu, Shombo, Mama, and Flora. Shamsi have had a great run in their careers, so far and are the youngest band to play at Safaricom Jazz festival.
This year’s festival will also feature BCUC (South Africa), Afrigo Band (Uganda), FID Q (Tanzania), Mokomba (Zimbabwe), Mkubwa Na Wanawe Crew (Tanzania), (Algeria), Faith Mussa (Malawi), Tausi Women’s Taarab (Zanzibar/Tanzania), Rajab Suleiman and Kithara (Zanzibar/Tanzania), M’toro Chamou (Mayotte/Reunion), Sofaz (Reunion), Tune Recreation Committee (South Africa) and Jackie Akello (Uganda), among others.
Some big names have performed at SzB such as the Late legend taarab queen; Bi Kidude, Lady Jaydee, Saida Karoli, Jose Chameleone, Nneka see more.
