The Africa Yoga Project is an outlet and an outreach for thousands of marginalized communities, teaching free yoga classes each week and encouraging trust, loyalty, respect as well as fitness and fun.
It will be celebrating its 10th year of existence at the Alchemist this coming weekend and looking to build on the bonds of connected-ness – especially with Kenya going through its fair share of highs and lows over the past year.
Peace building, civic engagement, and civic leadership are all central to the AYP’s activities, which also focus on youth employability and on developing the yoga/well being market across Kenya and the rest of Africa.
The upcoming Africa Yoga Project Talent Show will be part of a wider AYP DAY that will also feature some of the types of classes and services offered by the program.
Partner yoga, acro-yoga, arm balances, and yoga stretches that can be done during conferences or work meetings in normal street clothes round out the AYP DAY program, which will feature both afternoon and evening performances of the Talent Show, followed by a dance party.
