The Africa Nouveau Festival Is Ready For Takeoff!

The countdown officially begins!!

The Africa Nouveau Festival kicks off next month on Friday the 2nd from 5 pm and ends on Sunday the 4th, 11 pm, at the Ngong Racecourse Waterfront. The 2 days, 2 nights arts and music festival bring together creators, curators and fans from Africa and its diaspora with the objective of celebrating most progressive, innovative and cutting-edge concepts from African creatives.

This year’s theme asserts the right of creatives to be fun, fierce and fantastical as they would like to be, hence the theme’s title, Afrobubblegum – coined by renowned filmmaker Wanuri Kahiu.

The continent is well represented on the artists’ lineup, nearly every region of Africa is taking part, with musicians from Sao Tome e Principe, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa and DRC –  details on performing acts, here. Blankets & Wine is set to take over the music programming with South African Star Kwesta headlining the inaugural day, Sunday 4th.

Fashion looks to be a major component in this year’s festival, owing to the support by British Council under the East African Arts program. Expect representation of various fashion enterprises, designers, photographers, stylists and other actors within the fashion ecosystem from Kenya, Ethiopia, and the UK.

Show up prepared to do fittings with the designers showcasing at the festival and participate in a professional photo shoot, leading up to a digitally distributed fashion magazine detailing designers’ work.

Tickets:

3,500 for the weekend

1,800 for the daily pass
