Actress Cindy Seeking To Raise 150k To Fight Vitiligo

Former Machachari actress Clara Wamaitha, aka Cindy is appealing to Kenyans to help her raise at least Ksh 150,000 to help her fight vitiligo.

Cindy, while speaking to Hiram Maina in a Youtube video, said she needs help because she no longer gets roles because of the disease which has now turned out to be a burden for her and her family.

Vitiligo is a condition in which the skin loses its pigment cells (melanocytes). This can result in discolored patches in different areas of the body, including the skin, hair and mucous membranes.

“Before the show ended, I spotted some slight colouring on my hand. I wasn’t keen on my skin but later on, I came to regret it,” she said.

“I have gone to all the hospitals and spent a lot. My daughter funded that. At times I became depressed since I knew that with the skin change, there was going to be no shows for me.”

Cindy, who also thanked her fans for the immense support, said that she started a production business after Machachari ended but due to the ongoing pandemic, she had to shut it down because there are no jobs.

“During that time, I could take loans but now, nothing. I can’t since I do not have any income-generating business. My daughter graduated with a first-class honours degree in forensic science. She is a fingerprint expert and my son is also a graduate.” she said.
