A Guide To Buying Makeup Brushes

As a makeup artist, I can never compromise on my makeup tools or rather my tools of trade as I like referring to them. My makeup tools- makeup brushes and makeup sponges- help me get the best desired results hence more bookings. However, this was not always the case when I started my profession. I wasted lots of money spending it on buying cheap makeup brushes that would end up being durable.

With time, I learned from my mistakes. As we speak, I have three sets of great makeup brushes that have lasted me two and a half years, still in perfect condition. Here are a few tips that will guide you when buying makeup brushes for personal or professional use:-

Quality of the Makeup Brushes

Quality makeup brushes are an essential part of creating quality makeup looks. However, brushes that fall apart or leave streaks that need extra work make the job harder.

Check the Build of the Brush

Feel the bristles- they should not feel frayed or ragged, and they shouldn’t lose a mass of hair or break either. The bristles should be held in place by a seamless ferrule base that does not wobble or come detached. Additionally, the little brushes that sometimes come with makeup products are usually not that great.

Original Brushes over Dupes

Go for original brushes from authentic makeup brands over dupes from China. Dupes tend to last less than the original ones. Additionally, the material used to make dupes is not of great quality. Original makeup brushes are often more expensive than dupes, but they are worth every penny manufactured with the customer’s interest at heart.
