Makeup brushes are essential tools when it comes to makeup application. Just like a farmer can’t go farming without a jembe, it would be useless to achieve a flawless makeup look without makeup brushes. However, after a few uses, makeup brushes gather dirt from makeup products, and it’s crucial to know how to deep-clean them properly. We deep clean makeup brushes to ensure that we get rid of dirt and germs, which, if not cleaned, would transfer bacteria to our skin and cause skin problems and breakouts.
Here are six easy steps that will help you when deep cleaning your makeup brushes:-
First, you need to wet your brush bristles. Be keen to hold the brush facing down to avoid water interfering with the base of the bristles that are held together by adhesive.
Apply a cleanser. You can choose any cleanser of your preference. Ensure you choose a cleanser that is gentle and comfortable on your skin and bristles. My favorite cleanser is Morning Fresh Antibacterial Dishwashing Soap.
Apply a small amount of the cleanser/soap on the palm of your hand and gently massage the bristles on the palm of your hands or a brush cleaner. Rub the bristles on the different of the brush cleaner depending on the size of the brush and the bristles. Always pay attention to the top of the bristles to avoid interfering with the adhesive at the base of the bristles.
Rinse the bristles thoroughly, ensuring that water does not run down the brush handle.
Squeeze out excess moisture with a clean towel and reform the bristles to shape with your hands.
Lay them on a flat surface, preferably a countertop, to dry off.
