With the curfew and lockdown in place, it’s becoming harder and harder to go out, meet friends and enjoy a couple of your favorite drinks.

Even with a few friends over, it’s still hard to enjoy that drink because you have to order out.

Well, you can make these cocktails at home with just a few essentials and little planning. Fixing cocktails at home is cheap and a sure way of increasing the fun in your meetings.

Below are 4 easy cocktail recipes that you can adopt:

Dawa

This is one of the easiest and most popular cocktails in Kenya. Almost every joint has it and so if you have been missing it, he’s how it’s simply made:

Ingredients

  • Ice cubes
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 lime
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • Honey to taste

Crush or cut the lime in quarters to release its juice and put it in a rock glass.

Add sugar and muddle the mixture. Add some crushed ice, then vodka and stir to combine them. Twist the stirring stick into the honey to coat it then stir the mixture. Honey is used to garnish the Dawa cocktail. Serve the drink and enjoy it.

Black Russian

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp. ground coffee
  • 250ml dark rum
  • 1 tbsp. maple syrup,
  • 150ml vodka,
  • 150 ml, ice

Preparation: take 4 tumblers and pour 25 ml of the coffee rum mixture. Mix double cream and vodka in a jug. Take a spoon over the ice and pour the boozy cream so it overflows into the glass. This will help the cream to float over the coffee liqueur. Serve with something to stir.
