42 Named For Kenya 7s 2017/18

Kenya Sevens head coach Innocent Simiyu has named a 42-man provisional squad for the 2017/2018 HSBC World Sevens Series.

Notable inclusion is New Zealand based Willy who will link up with the team later in the month. He played a number of legs last season before shifting to New Zealand.

A large number of players has been selected from the just concluded national sevens circuit.

The team will be reduced to 26 to head to the new season with 18 being handed contracts while the remaining 8 will be academy players.

The named include Leonard Mugaisi of Homeboyz who was part of the team in 2016/2017 series, Strathmore’s Alex Olaba who played in 2015/2016 and KCB speedster Jacob Ojee.

There are seven Kenya Simbas players(Ojee, Owilla, Musonye, Onsomu, Amunga, Ambunya, Olaba) called to the team. In November, the Simbas will in Hong Kong for the Four Nations.

Kenya Sevens will head to South Africa this week for the Assupol sevens before attending Safland 7s in Namibia.
