10 Underrated Kenyan Music Collaborations

They say that two hands are better than one and in music, we see artistes coming together to make music despite their different strengths and genres. Kenyan artistes have collaborated since time immemorial and while some collaborations have thrust certain artistes to the limelight, others remain untapped potential.

In recent years there has been a spark of the PlayKE Movement that aims at pushing the Kenyan media and Kenyans to play and consume more Kenyan music as opposed to foreign music. Although more still needs to be done on this front, the movement has made some impact on the consumption of Kenyan music locally.

Below are some Kenyan underrated music collaborations that would definitely be worth your time:

Murderer –  BC (Bobby Mapesa & Calvo Mistari) & H_ART The Band

This song is a collaboration between two music groups and tells a story of how toxic and violent some love & relationships can get. The music video also vividly captures the story in the song. The song is well written and arranged and sets storytelling standards through music.

Inside – Rosa Ft Naiboi

The catchy chorus by Naiboi and fire beat by Jegede makes this song a certified club banger. The very talented Rosa also showcases her vocal prowess in this track and her Dholuo lines are very distinct adding a fresh twist to the verses.

No One – D Trixx Ndume & Bern Mziki

This is a different kind of gospel song that features some of the most underrated Kenyan talent. The lyrical prowess of D Trixx Ndume and Bern Mziki’s vocal range will have you jamming to this track.

How We Do – 125 & Mike Rua

How We Do is the perfect fusion between modern day hip hop and Kikuyu Folk Music. The unique blend was produced mixed and mastered by acclaimed Kenyan producer Dillie. Both 125 and Mike Rua showcase their various artistic strengths in this bi-genre song.

Romantic – Rawbeena & Fena Gitu

This is definitely on a love song that you could dedicate to your loved one. The track is a love promise of being romantic and the video backs up the promise.

Msichana Mmoja – Mbithi & K3hmboi

The chorus to this track is very catchy and k3hmboi’s voice is pure gold. Mbithi makes the track even better with the punch lines in his rap verses. This is one of those tracks you would want to groove to at your next house party.

Adabu – Dela & H_ART The Band

This track is probably one of the best written songs by the artistes involved. Coupled with the blending of Dela, Kenchez and Mordecai’s vocals, it is definitely good music to the ears. Wachira’s well thought out spoken word intro makes the track more artistic.

Party Nation – Kagwe Mungai, Fena Gitu, Mayonde, Muthoni Drummer Queen and Blinky Bill

This was the 3rd track in the collaboration project among these stars. It is a certified club banger that will lead you straight to the dance floor.


Ukiwa Mbali – Sol Generation Ft Sauti Sol & Crystal Asige

Off their 1919 to Forever Album that was in partnership with KLM Kenya, this is season’s greetings song that will definitely get you in the festive mood. As usual, Sol generation never disappoints. Actually get the full album if you can.


Coming Thru – Khaligraph Jones & Redsan

This hip hop and ragga collabo is definitely a banger. The fire beat is produced by Motif and provides the perfect foundation for the lyrical heavy weights Khaligraph and Redsan to showcase their talent. It is the perfect song to jam to on a road trip with your squad.
